My Favourite view over Ari's Garden. |
As I write this the rain has thankfully once again returned to quench the earth and clean the leaves.
We once again opened Farnborough garden this Autumn and raised over $4500 for BrightStars School, Dhaka Bangladesh.
EchoStars wishes to send out immense thanks to all who helped with the Autumn open house and garden as well as those who attended it making it a great success.
Album shown here is a poor reflection of the particularly vibrant colours this Autumn.
We had several garden bus tours which was an added bonus to the fund raising.
Rose Figtree presented an audio visual on the garden development to visitors while they enjoyed the hospitality of the kitchen. A lovely convivial atmosphere was ever present and visitors were keen to discover how this garden was the inspiration behind BrighStars School.
It was lovely to have so many people showing interest and support for the school.
The money raised will go towards several school projects including the annual funding for the very successful literacy program offered to siblings and mothers of BrightStars students. Last year was the first year for the Literacy Program and many of the younger students were able to join mainstream school this year thanks to their interest and efforts in working with the 'catch up tuition' offered in the Literacy program.
Next Event: 'Flying West'
The garden and house will re-open on Sunday July 27th 2014 for a special winter event ‘Flying West’ with local renowned composer Ann Carr-Boyd and Dianna Weston of ‘Thoroughbase’. The day will include lunch and afternoon tea with the concert in the formal rooms of the house. Numbers will be limited. Invitations will be out soon.
City2surf: Sunday August 10.
EchoStars has a team participating in the 2013 City to Surf.
Anyone interested in attending ‘Flying West’ or joining the team can contact Rose Figtree on 0428 888 844.
