Dear friends of EchoStars,
Like all of us these days with too much to do I have been struggling of late to manage my work for ES but I was given a big boost to my enthusiasm last week by being asked to do a presentation for the Fashion Revolution Day on 24th April at Bundanoon Bowling Club.
Thanks to Sue Davidson and Marie Klausen who conceived, promoted , stylised (fantastically) and ran the event EchoStars was rewarded with $500 but so much more in moral support. To find these 2 wonderful women come out of the blue and offer so much time and energy to focus attention on the true cost of ‘cheap’ clothing but in a broader sense the cost to humanity of continuing to ignore third world poverty.
This fashion revolution day will be a focal point for ES in upcoming years to harness support for our BrightStars who are at the coal face of humanities neglect. Try to make the time to look at this video

I was especially moved as it is such a commonplace story for me and very much behind the motivation for my starting ES. Together your support for EchoStars does make a huge difference to the story that can be YOUR STORY that goes like this –
Once upon a time I felt quite powerless at witnessing the poverty and futility of life in the third world that I watch each night on SBS.
Every day I witnessed a world that I did not want to see but could not close my eyes to it.
Then one day I decided I could no longer be a passive on looker to this poverty.
Because of that I started to take an interest in offering support to charities that I thought were helping to alter the overriding desperation of humanity.
Because of that I now support BrightStars School and recognise that these young girls and boys have a new life opportunity in front of them.
Until finally maybe one day we shall see our student stars in good jobs, not in underpaid sweat shops making cheap garments for a greedy consumer market in the West and not begging in the streets but living a sustainable and dignified life that is every humans right.
Finally we might see one of our Stars graduating university and going on to improve the world through their personal efforts.
And so dear friends I could not have begun this journey to make any impact at all on the street children of Dhaka without your support.
Please see take a moment to renew your sponsorship or begin a new one. Our school needs on going support to keep our Stars off the street and create a life opportunity for them.

we need to start using social media more even if we hate it.
Many thanks for caring and supporting.
