BACK TO SCHOOL

Education year of Bright Stars School of 2014 began from January 05. Some children left for their village with their families and 17 students graduated from grade 5. Students of grade five of 2013 all had  a brilliant result in their Primary School Certificat(PSC) exams.

Forty new children (24 boys and 16 girls) have been enroll this year. In total we have 150 students (75 boys and 75 girls) in the normal school program of which 15 are from the special needs group. There are also another group of 20 children in the literacy program. This program is for the children who are already over aged to start their schooling from kindergarten. We teach them according to their level of understanding during the whole year and promote them into normal school in different level/classes according to their performance. This year we have 20 children (8 boys and 12 girls) in the literacy program to enable them to begin their education albeit late.

On the  first day of the school all students of BSS recieve their new text books, school dress, shoes. There are other facilities for all the children as: everyday a hot meal, a banana, a doctor visit twice per week. School dresses are being washed and iron at school to keep them in a good and clean condition.

Bright Stars School follows the state curriculum with an emphasis on English from the very beginning. The school program includes a health and hygiene and general knowledge subject. According to the national curriculum there are three subjects in grade kindergarten to grade II; they are Bengali, English and Math. Grade III to V have six subjects, they are: Bengali, English, Math, Social Studies, General Science and Religion.

 

Finally there are some extra or after school programs for the students  such as: recitation, drama, dance, songs etc. as cultural program. Everybody gets a chance to perform these at the  year end cultural program.

 

There are 3 exams during the whole year besides all the daily and weekly class tests. Education year is from January to December.
