Rustique Richmond

Another hot slog to Richmond and what a relief to find ourselves at the Arndale Guesthouse with the welcoming hospitality of Tina and Paul. The trip to date has been a bit of a let down of accommodation save a few places which I really should mention as they stood out like diamonds in the dust after hot days on the trek. They provided smiles and hospitality and rooms worth paying for. Carol saved us at the Greyhound in Shap when our accommodation service made a mistake and we found ourselves bedless one night. Jane of the Crown and Mitre at Brampton was the first happy stay after our start at St Bee's. Not to forget Les the Insomniac that attended to our every need at Cambridge House, Reeth.

We had our first 'real' meal last night. The French restaurant 'Rustique' reminded us both of why we were so unhappy with the standard English menu we found ourselves faced with night after dreadful night.
Viva la France.

Easby Abbey just outside Richmond. Bully Boy Henry once again was hard at work destroying English Medieval Christian Heritage. The sadness of these ruins should inspire our generation to realise that a path to peace must be found surely not via violence. Just as Slavery and the emancipation of women is now a foregone conclusion in the human conciousness may peace and the removal of poverty enter the realm of humanity's status quo also.
