An Historic Perspective

The last open day of spring 2012 - Sunday 23 September.

A magnificent early Spring. The warm weather has brought on the blossom early.  Although much of Farnborough garden was laid out in the last 8 years it has signicifant Historic interest.

In the background 2 trees stand testament to the Historic lineage of Farnborough.  The original gum and the exotic Himalayan Cedar – that magnificently anctient Cedrus deodara . In the next photograph you will see the Old Oak Tree not yet in leaf with the carpet of bulb not quite visible in this photo. The last vestige of Farnborough Dairy is that cute as anything rusting and leaning shed.

Under this  significant tree is where we hold EchoBeat each year.  Save the Date: Sunday November 25th 2012 . The Garden is totally different in the summer– full and fat with growth. The roses are out then. something to look forward to .  I have just started planting many more roses which will only enhance all the Historic trees.

The Rhododendron Walk. Having walked the Annapurna Sanctuary in Nepal last May and seen these Gothic trees filling the valleys and mountain-sides makes me love Farnborough copse more and more each year.  A very special place in this HIstoric garden.

The crabapple walk is spectacularly beautiful in full flush. The white weeping cherries are just beginning to open (foreground) while the many pink weepers are already making their statement of the season.

Hope I see you there tomorrow.

Thank you for your support.  Our Stars are receiving an education through your visits and donations.
